The Problem We had just launched Twitbin, had just started getting tons of feedback on it, and had no way to handle it. People were giving us feedback in countless different places and we had no way to track it all. Our Approach After having created a number of extremely complex excel spreadsheets and emailing them around our office every few hours we realized we were missing out on tons of stuff. Then migrating to google docs, we decided that it still wasn’t enough. So we thought about ways in which we could automate the importing of the data, as well as manage our team’s collaboration around the data. Our solution We decided that we weren’t going to spend tens of thousands of dollars a month on an enterprise level social media monitoring tool, mainly because if we couldn’t afford it, chances were there were plenty of others who couldn’t either. So we built our own meta search engine, and tied it to our own custom dashboard, and were able to bring in every mention of our products out there on the public social web. So once we had that running, we figured, we might as well share this tool with the world, and that is how StartPR was born. We made it affordable for even small businesses to track and respond to their brand mentions all over the social web.
